Special guests this month will be…

Charlie Dave Kent (Art of Dark – Project FM – Bronx) A young underground house music junkie from East London. Charlie started out DJ’ing locally in little bars and clubs back in 2010, to then become part of one of London’s most respected gems. A party called Art of Dark. He is now taking his deep dubby techno sounds across London playing at venues such as Fabric, Corisca Studio, Hoxton Basement, Victorian Vaults, Cargo, Vibe Bar, Pacha, Relay, Cafe 1001 and Hackney Downs Studio’s to name but a few. Charlie has worked alongside many respected artists such as tINI, Tale of Us, DJ W!ld, Hector, Rodriguez Jr, Miguel Campbell, Larse, Egal 3, Lilith, Josh T, Huxley, Jef K, Sam Russo, Jack & I, Andrew Grant, Tania Vulcano, Pig & Dan, Miss Divine, Jordan Peak and Alex Jones.

Influenced by DJ’s and producers such as FUSE main man; Enzo Siragusa, Rich NxT, Samu.l, Afrilounge and tINI. Charlie likes to take a crowd on a journey through his sets with his moody techno sounds. 2012 is looking like a very good year, with festivals, more secret hidden events and plans for Ibiza, Amsterdam and Berlin. Not forgetting having his weekly radio show on London’s leading dance music station, Project FM with close friend Joe Morley from East Project. Charlie is one to simply keep an eye on…

Ultraplay’s second spesh guest this month is globe-trotting Ash Verschuur (AL CODA). Best known for his residency for Parliament Of House at Turnmills, UK (voted 4th best club in the world by Mixmag two years in a row) and now resident DJ of AL CODA (one of Central America’s most acclaimed after hour warehouse parties), Ash has played alongside some of his favourite internationals such as Ariel, Mr C, Dave Clarke, Tim Sheridan as well as many household favourites including Faithless, Carl Cox, and Stanton Warriors. This has seen his music career take him through Europe, and as far afield as Asia, Australia, and South & Central America.
Ash shows as much passion for working behind the scenes as he does behind the decks. Having worked with some of the biggest promoters internationally, he now turns his attention to his own projects. With AL CODA Festival on the horizon, the London event series launching at the end of this summer 2012, and with seven AL CODA warehouse after parties establishing the name firmly in to Panama’s nightlife scene – this year is already finding itself to be one of AL CODA’s favourites.
With sophisticated music for unsophisticated behaviour, expect a stew of minimal, deep, house & techno…
Back on the Ultra-Decks for his fourth installment, will be; Andre Ferraz (KAT N’ MAUS), who’ll be opening up the party at 2pm with his excellent dubbed-out, deep-techy vibes. Check out Andre’s cool sound in his recent mix for the Ultraplay Podcast.

Lastly, the wonderful Lyn Saine and Darren C will be obliterating the 1001 dance floor in a grand finale with their acrobatic antics and bad-ass music.

[Please note - The Cafe 1001 door policy has recently become very strict and very slow, so it is highly advisable to get down to the party as early as possible to avoid waiting for ages in the long queues... The party starts at 2pm.]

Ultraplay returns to 1001 this month ready to unleash it’s monster party on the Brick Lane massive… Get ready for another crazy party with a killer lineup of exceptionally talented DJ’s.

On center stage for his second appearance at Ultraplay will be very special guest – Mark d’Ground.

Mark has been regularly playing in and around London, recently playing at some of the capitals very best warehouse parties and label nights. He’s played for – Cocoon, Drumcode, Cadenza and Leftroom, just to mention a few names… Mark mixes an eclectic sound of deep tech-house, and has a strong connection with the dance floor and a pure passion for the underground sound. Having recently delved into the world of making music it won’t be long until he’ll be pumping out his very own unique productions on the dance floors, basements and warehouse’s of London. This is a great chance to see a fresh artist in the making whilst catching what will no doubt be and awesome DJ set.

Our second special guest is Synthnat, who will be making her debut appearance at Ultraplay. Using a combination of bass-driven minimal techno, dark tech-house and techno, Natalia aka Synthnat has created quite a following that has led to the success of her long running Where House events in a north London warehouse. Her Techno Cave parties have also brought her dynamic style to the masses in the heart of Shoreditch, East London. She’s been lighting up dance floors in numerous venues both in London and her home country of Spain. Her DJ sets are uplifting, progressive and full of energy, mixing both current and classic strains of the best atmospheric techno available. In 2008 she signed with the Spanish techno label LGM where she had her first release Silver Rosa ep, and another mix for a label compilation.

As if this wasn’t enough for your ears, Maker+Meyer are back this month with their decks & FX, ready to deal some serious low frequency damage to the 1001 dance floor with their dual array of awesome music. Maker+Meyer are masters of the lunchtime groove where they lift the day time party up to it’s penultimate peak just before the sun drops and the darkness sets in…

Finally, Ultraplayer Darren C will be entering the danger zone and arming the Funktion-One sound system with a diverse and formidable – un-calculated, daisy chained explosion of Techno Bombs… This is not for the faint, or fluffy hearted. You have been warned…

Lastly, sorry to those who could not get into the party last month. It’s advisable to try and get down to Cafe 1001 as early as possible to avoid problems getting when the party is full to capacity. Doors will open at 2pm!

Get ready for another amazing Ultraplay party this month!

Ultraplay fans will finally get a chance to hear Darren C’s long awaited music productions. This ‘Ultraplay Music’ has been a long time coming… but it’s been well worth the wait. Ultraplay launches this innovative new sound, which twists Techno in a fresh new direction. Imagine melodic fragments of rich orchestral sounds, washed up against earth-shaking beats and mashed up, distorted guitar twisted-beyond-recognition and you only just start to get the picture… No corners have been cut with this original music which has been mastered by the legendary Brian Sanhaji.

Lyn Saine is back this month, and she’s ready to rock the hell out of that 1001 dance floor together with her growing army of crazy fans. If you haven’t seen her in action yet wow-ing the crowds with her mad tunes, then don’t miss this party!

Super-chilled Andre Ferraz, the London based Brazilian DJ is also back for his second appearance at Ultraplay since the amazing NYD2012 party. He’ll be starting the party with his cool, groovy, bassy-beats, perfectly fitting for a Sunday afternoon. Andre has just made a fantastic exclusive chilled out mix for the Ultraplay Podcast (034), which is being release today (11/03). Slap that on your iPod, it’s awesome! Lastly, as if that wasn’t all enough, we have another very special guest who’ll be making her debut appearance at Ultraplay, the enchanting – Red Pig Flower! Now London based, but coming from a pure Techno background in Japan, party-making, globe-trotting ‘Red Pig Flower’ who spins all manner of Electronica, has an exquisite taste in the Techy sound realm. This girl bends BPM’s and clubbers minds alike, whilst keeping everyone’s feet happily rooted to a pumpin’, rockin’ filthy beat.

An Ultraplay crowd get lifted by it’s music up onto a euphoric high, to to a point where people are dancing on the ceiling, forgetting who there are and where they came from. Living the moment with booming tribal chants and cheers of joy are the norm for an Ultraplay performance. Now Ultraplay is here with it’s own unique music. An infinite score of otherworldly sounds, produced from the very deepest and darkest part of London

Red Pig Flower
Red Pig Flower, like a red pig that cross-pollinated with a flower and thereby mutated into a new species, works as a professional DJ, producer and artist. After feeling the good vibes while exploring clubs in Japan, she made the decision to become a DJ. Red Pig Flower began Djing at the Korean club Air under the alias Ekal, during which she sizzled up the dancefloor with tribal beats in an impressive style. From 2009, she became more well known as a party guest DJ and organiser, working with artists such as House Rules from Korea and Capsule, Hico and Towa Tei from Japan. She became an outreach DJ for the Pacemaker product and in 2010, became sponsored by the Samick Innovative Music System, a Korean branch of Native Instruments. However, Red Pig Flower’s most extraordinary skill is her habit of getting peoples’ hearts racing with tribal beats and cooling the steam off with upbeat techno sets.  As she continues to explore new beats and grooves with Abelton Live as a laptop DJ, her dexterous skill with all types of controllers and equipment continues to widen in spectrum. Armed with a mind for experiment, she will never cease to produce only her very own unique sound.  Beginning in 2010, Ekal changed her alias to Red Pig Flower and began preparing for the Tokyo Red party to launch in Korea during the summer. She continues displaying her talent by crossing bridges as an organizer, introducing Japanese artists to Korea, Korean artists to Japan, and causing earthquakes, floods, volcanos and other natural disasters with her ferocious sound.

Lyn Saine
Lyn Saine is Ultraplay’s sweetest rockin’ resident. London based Lyn Saine, originally from Poland has been gracing the Ultraplay decks at the Cafe 1001 exclusively for Ultraplay since October 2009. A relative new comer to DJ’ing & East London’s clubbing scene, this extremely talented young DJ has been wow-ing the crowds down at Ultraplay each month with her big smiles and wild style. Lyn Saine is part of a new breed of DJ who plays and expresses a very modern and forward thinking take on Techno. She is currently busy producing and with a view to releasing early this year. In the meantime, Lyn Saine is djing in and around the London DJ circuit. She is a true entertainer and clubbing crowd pleaser. Lyn Saine is definitely one to watch out for this year.

Andre Ferraz
Since his young teens Andre Ferraz has been obsessed with music, specifically drums, bass guitar and the funk they can cause. Exploring this love through a number of high school bands, the boy went through college in Brazil falling ever more in love with music without knowing about the real world possibilities.
Having been forced to study Architecture and Law by his parents, Ferraz grew ever more occupied with Sao Paulo’s club scene, sneaking out to get a taste of the nocturnal culture in which he is now fully submerged. A few DJ gigs ensued in small bars around the city, and so too did the Brazilian begin promoting the odd party in now sadly extinct clubs like U-Turn and Club K in Sao Paulo. Everyone from Juan Atkins, Frankie Knuckles, Green Velvet, Hernan Cattaneo, and many others appeared at parties Ferraz promoted during the beginning of this millennium.

Since he left South America for the cooler climes of London in 2005, honing his music production techniques has been Ferraz’s obsession. From audio technology to music history via sound design, piano and sampling, this Brazilian expert has done it all under the careful tutelage of various people around London at places like SAE and Pointblank.
Of course party promotion was never far away either, and at the end of 2008 with two other friends there were DJ residencies at Exit Bar and Scream Bar in Shoreditch for parties Brazuka and Spacecake respectively, whilst his latest project is the house and techno leaning Kat & Maus promotion in East London.

Also now embroiled in yet another music production course, Ferraz has finally crafted some music to be released into the wider world on Frankfurt’s much respected label, Weplayminimal, alongside the revered established likes of Federico Molinari, Daniel Steinberg, Nic Fanciulli and label boss M.in. His Connected EP is two tracks of finely crafted, well-balanced deep tech that joins the dots between Berlin minimal and the more emotive soul of the US’s finest. Warm chords hang round languid grooves as they work their way under your skin and some deft sampling fleshes out the arrangements to make them sound more dynamic and alive than a lot of electronic music out there in 2011. Surely, it’s a EP which marks the arrival of a future star.
